Press Release : 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 20th – 28th November 2024

The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), held from November 20th to 28th, 2024, brought together filmmakers, artists, and cinema enthusiasts from around the world. Organized by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), Government of Goa, this year’s festival marked a celebration of cinematic excellence and cultural exchange.

Among the distinguished participants were VPV Yugka Murrthy, Founder and President of the South India International Film Festival and Awards (SIIFFA), and Altaf Jhanagir of Festival De Affairs, who attended the event. Both had engaging discussions with representatives from the Australia Film Association, Belarus Film Division, and Joint Directors from the states of Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Tamil Nadu, setting the stage for meaningful future collaborations.

In an exciting development, SIIFFA is set to launch its first edition of the South India International Film Festival and Awards (SIIFFA) 2025 as The Great Indian Festival 2025. Scheduled to be held at Mayajal Cine Village, Chennai, from July 24th to July 27th, 2025, this grand event will be organized in association with key organizations including the Indo Latin American Chamber of Commerce (ILACC), Delhi International Film Festival (DIFF), First Circle, and Vasudhaiva Kudambakam Social Welfare Trust, Coimbatore.

Supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and programs such as Incredible India, Swachh Bharat, and Make in India, this unique event will showcase:

Film Festival: Featuring 120 films from 80 countries, celebrating diverse stories and cinematic talents.

Fashion Show: An exclusive Bride and Groom Fashion Parade.

Food Festival: Highlighting Indian traditional and authentic cuisine.

Ayush Expo: Showcasing Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.

Art & Culture: International folk dance performances and a live painting expo celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema.

Film Awards: Honoring achievements in various categories, including Best Film, Best Actor, and Best Director.

Social Awards: Recognizing outstanding contributions with awards for Best NGO, Best Humanitarian Efforts, and more.

Import & Export Expo: Hosted by the Indo Latin American Chamber, promoting global trade.

Additionally, SIIFFA will hold auditions for new talent in acting, music direction, singing, cinematography, and editing, offering a platform for emerging artists. There will also be opportunities for OTT web series, and finance arrangement support for future film projects.
