South India International Film Festival Founder Congratulates IFFI 2024 Winners and Invites Global Film Societies to Chennai

The grand Closing Ceremony of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Panaji, marked the culmination of nine days of cinematic celebration, honoring global storytelling and filmmaking brilliance.
The ceremony witnessed a vibrant gathering of luminaries from the film industry, including acclaimed actors, filmmakers, and international producers. Highlights of the evening included the conferral of the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award to Australian filmmaker Phillip Noyce, as well as a Special Recognition Award to superstar Allu Arjun for his remarkable contribution to Indian cinema with his blockbuster Pushpa 2.
Amid the celebrations, VPV Yugka Murthy, Founder and Chairman of the South India International Film Festival (SIIFFA), extended his heartfelt congratulations to the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Entertainment Society of Goa, Government of India’s Information & Broadcasting Ministry, Government of Goa, and the Ministry of Culture for successfully organizing this magnificent global event.
In a statement, VPV Yugka Murthy commended all the winners and participants, emphasizing the importance of festivals like IFFI in fostering global cultural exchange and showcasing India’s cinematic excellence. He applauded the tribute to India’s diverse cultural heritage through performances like “Rhythms of India” and expressed admiration for the festival’s ability to unite filmmakers, artists, and audiences across borders.
Murthy also took this opportunity to invite international film festival societies, including Festival de Affairs led by Mr. Altaf Janhangir, to collaborate with the South India International Film Festival (SIIFFA), to be held in Chennai. He further acknowledged the contributions of Mr. Ashish Kumar, Director of SIIFFA Films, and Mr. Bhuopati Raj, Director of SIIFFA, in shaping the vision and execution of the festival.
“The success of IFFI 2024 demonstrates the boundless potential of film festivals to create platforms for artistic collaboration and cultural exchange. I warmly welcome all international film societies to join hands with us for SIIFFA, where South Indian cinema meets the global stage,” he stated.
SIIFFA aims to celebrate the diversity, creativity, and innovation of the South Indian film industry while bridging gaps with international cinema. With the support of key figures like Mr. Altaf Janhangir, Mr. Ashish Kumar, and Mr. Bhuopati Raj, SIIFFA is poised to become a landmark event that further strengthens India’s role as a global hub for filmmaking.
As IFFI 2024 concludes with the awarding of the Golden Peacock for Best Feature Film, Murthy’s call for unity among global film societies underscores the evolving power of cinema to inspire, connect, and transform.
